In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (j) of section 68T of NDPS Act, by notification S.O. 898 (E) dated 29th September, 2000, published in the official Gazette, Central Government specified the following officers as the officers empowered and required to assist the Administrator, Competent Authority and the Appellate Tribunal:

4.	Officers engaged in the execution and implementation of the Agricultural Income Tax Act.	State Governments (except the State of  Jammu & Kashmir) or the Union Territory.
5.	Officers engaged in the execution and implementation of the Urban Land Tax Act.	State Governments (except the State of Jammu& Kashmir) or the Union Territory.
6.	Superintendent of Jail.	State Governments (except the State Territory. of Jammu & Kashmir) or the Union
7.	(i) Officers of Sales- tax Department (ii) Officers of the Commercial tax Department.	State Governments (except the State of Jammu& Kashmir) or the Union Territory.
8.	Registrars of the district and Sub-Registrars of the Sub-districts appointed under section 6 of the Registration Act, 1908 (16 of 1908)	State Governments  (except the State of Jammu & Kashmir) or the Union Territory.
9.	Officers of the Forest Department.	State Governments (except the State of Jammu& Kashmir) or the Union Territory.
